Information Architect

Is it a good idea to switch careers from Engineer to Architect?
What if one started as an Engineer, and then later became an Architect?
Assuming they majored in both in College.
Also, which do you think is better and why?
Please be generous in helpful information if you are knowledgeable on either.
I agree with NJ. Engineering is much more stable right now. I live in DC, where the economy is being propped up by federal government projects and I know a lot more architects that are finding it tough to find jobs than engineers.
Also, would you rather have a science degree or an art degree? I have noticed that people seem to give a little more credibility to people with science degrees. Of course, architects also get all the credit.
Electrical engineers are always in high demand. Mechanical engineers can work in just about any field.
What is an information architect?
